Last year I created Nova A Toddler Halloween Costume. Because, every Year we come up with a family theme to dress up as. It started when I went ahead and grabbed some Bug costumes from Target one year for Halloween and my family all agreed that moving forward we pick together. Last, year we decided to do the Main Cast of the Movie “Dead Presidents” and better known to many as bank robbers. But, where there is a successful heist there is a bag of money to show for it. I decided to custom design this super easy Money Bag costume for Nova with only a few needed supplies and under $20. This was the first time I ever created a costume, outside of making a tutu, and you can say I definitely had fun. Already thinking about what we will be for Halloween 2023.
What You Need:
- Drawstring Canvas Back Pack (Hobby Lobby $2.99)
- Oversized Paper Play Money (Party Center or you can print off at home or local print shop)
- Hot Glue & Glue Gun
- Black Vinyl (I used my Cameo to cut out and heat press $$$ to the bag) (You can also use a stencil and black paint)
How To Make Toddler Halloween Costume
Step 1: Remove Knots from the bottom of Drawstring bag Handles and retie the knots (This will be utilized to secure on Toddler like a Halter Top style)
Step 2: Cut out two small holes in the bottom hem of the bag for the feet/legs to go through.
Step 3: Open the bag and Hot Glue paper money to the inside (details of the money front facing). Crumble some of the money first to give it an illusion as if its stuffed inside.
Step 4: Iron on Black Dollar Signs or Free Hand w/ Black Paint and brush (You can even utilize fabric markers or regular markers)
Optional Headband
Step 1: Gather several paper bills and glue together at the ends
Step 2: Once dried fold about an 1/2 back and forth like an accordion (As if you were making a fan)
Step 3: Utilize a piece of one bill and cut a 1/4 inch strip and wrap around the center of accordion Bill and hot glue to secure
Step 4: Hot Glue onto a plan headband (Black or Tan works best)
