How to make DIY Custom Crayons

Hey Guys, back with another DIY and this one’s for the Littles. Let’s just say if you have older kids, I know you have crayons that you was about to throw away, but Don’t!!! Instead make these super simple DIY Custom Crayons using heat safe silicon molds. I love that you can use all the same color or break up a random selection and make it rainbow. Making this project cheap and fun for the whole family to try. You can find a variety of molds for different occasions in the cookware section. Check out places like Amazon, TJMAXX, Ross, Homegoods, Target and even Walmart. Making these super cute gifts as well.

If you find the alphabet molds, you can even use the letters of your little ones name, or someone else’s. Giving you major points in the #CoolMom category.

What You Need:

  • Silicone mold of your choice (They come in different themes and sizes)
  • Broken/unused Crayons (You can also grab an inexpensive pack too)
  • Baking Sheet/Pan
  • Large Bowl
  • Liquid Soap

How To Make DIY Custom Crayons

Step 1: Fill Large Bowl with Warm Soapy Water

Step 2: Drop Crayons into water and allow them to soak for about 5-10 Minutes or until the wrappers slide right off, or at least easy to remove

Soak Crayons in Warm Soapy water

Step 3: Break up Crayons and place them inside your desired mold (Any combination works either mix them up for an rainbow effect or use a variation of the same color)

Step 4: Preheat Oven to 350 Degrees and place Mold inside on top of a Baking sheet/pan and let cook for 10-15 Minutes or until crayons are completed liquidized

Step 5: Remove from heat and allow to cool (I personally slide mine into the freezer to spend up the time)

Step 6: Only when completely cooled slowly remove Molds from Silicone Mold and Enjoy!

This by far may be one of the easiest DIYs you can do for your kids or someone else’s. I not only created these Christmas ones for my children, but also heart shaped crayons for my daughter’s Valentine Class gifts and let’s just say it was a hit among the kids. I paired it with a little colorable card and dropped them in mini gift bags. Definitely something I will be doing again next year.
