Who says catching piggies can’t be a squealing good time? While exploring Life on the Farm we dived into an adorable and entertaining toddler activity called “Catch the Piggies.” Get ready for laughter, excitement, and plenty of oinks as your little one engages in this delightful game using none other than pink balloons. Materials Needed:
- Pink balloons
- Balloon Pump
- Black Marker
- Something to Utilize as an enclosure (Baby Gate, Chairs, Etc.)
Instructions:
- Inflate Pink Balloons:
- Start by inflating pink balloons using a Balloon pump.
- Draw Piggy Faces:
- Using a black marker, draw cute piggy faces on each balloon. Add eyes, a snout, and a curly tail to give them that realistic piggy look.
- Scatter Balloons Around the Room:
- Scatter the piggy balloons around the room. Make sure they are within reach for your toddler to catch.
- Set Up Your Enclosure
- Using an baby gate, chairs or like use flip your pikler triangle to the side and push against a wall to create a makeshift enclosure for your piggies to go into.
- Explain the Game:
- Gather your little one and explain the game. Let them know they are on a mission to “Catch the Piggies” by grabbing the balloons and putting them inside the makeshift enclosure “Piggy Pin”.
- Catch the Piggies:
- Release your toddler to start the exciting piggy-catching adventure. Encourage them to run and hurry so the piggies don’t get away.
- Celebrate the Catch:
- When a piggy balloon is caught, celebrate the achievement with cheers, claps, and perhaps a playful oink or two. This positive reinforcement adds to the joy of the activity.

- Counting Piggies: Turn the activity into a counting game by asking your toddler to count the piggies as they catch them.
