How to spend Four days In Fort Lauderdale with Bae

Need a Reset? Let’s start by booking the tickets, because if your a mom like me – the type that is still learning how to put yourself first – then that’s the hardest part. While I did have other reasons to head down to Florida, such as my brother’s 45th Wedding Vow Renewal. I still juggled the thoughts of, who’s going to watch the kids and what about the baby. The truth is I had all the answers. It was just putting the play into place – knowing damn well I/We needed this.

Fast Forward tickets booked. Airbnb arranged. Rental secured. And now the fun part, plan out the daily itineraries (because yes I am a planner and there is no vacation that I don’t map out What to eat, where to go and things to do). My bestie Sade introduced me to hashtags on TikTok and it about changed my life. I felt like an expert by time I was done. And I just knew this trip was going to be everything. I dropped all the details below and why’s. Just in case you find yourself needing a little reset with Bae too.

DAY 1

So we arrived via Spirit and I know, Spirit really? But, yes the flights were affordable and honestly it wasn’t that bad. I learned this trip that when traveling with Spirit, don’t expect nothing more than SPIRIT! Meaning, no snacks, pack lightly, check in early and you will be fine. Once we arrived safely – Which is all I ask for – I was ready to let loose, but first food.

SMILE EMPANDA

This place was really creative with the Empandas. Allen had Hamburger and I grabbed Cheese and spinach (Hands down amazing) and a Beyond (Tasty). The service was wonderful. Price was great. And although we had to wait a few minutes for our food, It was worth it. Would I go back? Yes, mainly for a quick bite to eat. $

Mama Hanks Speakeasy

I found this spot on TikTok and so happy I did. It was such an experience from the time of booking to arrival and even during. Heads up, they are reservation only so plan ahead. Be prepared to pay a booking fee of $10 per person which goes towards your final bill. On the day before arrival they send you instructions and it all just feels to Prohibition-ish. I don’t want to give any to many details. So I am just going to say book the reservations. And make sure you order some drinks, because they are an experience within itself. Besides that it definitely gives “Romantic Date Night Vibes” and I loved that for us. $$

Capital Grille

For Dinner we headed to Capital Grille, a favorite of ours. I enjoyed my Crab Cakes as usual and like always we had a good time. Now if you haven’t been then, make sure you order the calamari, Lobster Mac & Cheese and brussels sprouts. Which let me just say are glorious. Their food has plenty of flavors, and if lamb chops are your thing (Allen adores them). Then it’s definitely worth a try. $$$ $$$$

DAY 2

Coconuts

If you are looking for Food and Views then this is the spot. Another favorite of mine. I Highly suggest dining for lunch outdoors because it’s pretty popular after 2PM. After 5PM they have a special Oyster bar open, if that’s your thing. So, if you decided dinner was more the move, the views are just as nice. When ordering for the table don’t leave out the Conch and Shrimp Fritters. I also ordered the Mahi Mahi Sandwich blackened with a Caesar Salad and OMG- it was soooo good. A few of my other favorites are their Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Comfort Bowl with Lobster and Jambalaya (back in my meat days). The selection of seafood is fresh and the service has never disappointed. Would I go back, Absolutely! $$ – $$$

Staying A Float Party Boat

Quick backstory while eating at Coconuts we seen the boat sailing by. I googled to see what it was and figured why not give it a try. We booked the reservation and don’t regret it not one bit. The Crew was not only funny, but accommodating and ready to show you a good time. I think the highlight is it’s BYOB, plus you can bring food and/or snacks aboard. But, there is no time for eating because your too busy taking shots, dancing and for about 90 minutes hanging out in the sandbar on one of the many floating devices they provide. We are pretty sociable people so we made some acquittances, laughed and partied some more. Its perfect for a group outing but suitable for a couple too. Would I do it again, heck yeah, not bad for 2 Hours at $55.00 per person.

GiGis Music Cafe

Its family owned and operated. And they have a selection of specially curated menu options plus a full bar. Which exclusively serves Brown-English Wine another family name (Yup they own a winery too). There’s not much to say besides if you try it I am sure your going to love it. Depending on when you go they have special events, live bands and performances. So it’s worth checking their social to see what’s happening. $-$$

DAY 3

Batch Southern Kitchen

Yes, TikTok made me do it, – Again – and I am so happy they did. When I say I ate I mean that. Where do I start besides the reviews are true, it is as good as it looks. The Mimosas, are bottomless with three different ones to choose from. You have the option to try them all, but if you want to save time the Bellini’s are IT! I suggest you order biscuits for the table and as for a meal The Shrimp and Grits were chef’s kiss. I will also say this, don’t forget the waffle. Allen ordered the BBQ Jackfruit Burger and surprisingly loved it. I suggest booking a reservation, because its popular for Brunch so it gets busy pretty quickly. Besides the food, the atmosphere is so cute, with the outdoors being my favorite and the music right on point. $$ – $$$

Day 4

Dukunoo Wynwood

I am not going to hold you this Jamaican Cuisine gave exactly what it was suppose to give. Their Shrimp and Grits were packed with so much flavor, honestly I have never had anything like it. Allen had the DJK Jerk Burger and agreed it was too, very good, with a hint of just enough spice. They also have the bottomless Mimosas along with a full bar. It’s definitely gives Brunch/Day Party Vibez and turns up pretty quickly, which we noticed on our way out. Its located right in the heart of Wynwood close to Wynwood Walls, local shops and the most Insta-worthy backdrops. I think next time I will stay for the party! $$-$$$

Wynwood Walls

It’s exactly what they say “A Street Art Museum”. Perfect for content creators and those that just want to try something different. If that’s you then its worth checking out and only cost $12.00 per person. Your sure to capture plenty of flicks from the various designs you will see. $

SmorgasburgMiami

We stumbled upon this open food vendor market right up the block from Wynwood Walls and so happy we did. Let’s just say I walked around twice because there were so many options. We decided on dessert with a local black vendor Italian Vice . There were so many different flavors to choose from. I settled with Saweetie Strawberry and Mango Meek, while Allen grabbed Nispey Blue mixed with Mango Meek. Did I love it? Yup, it was the perfect for a Hot Miami Day. $-$$

Las Olas Beach

To me Las Olas Beach is a best kept second, and those who know, know. While everyone is rushing to South Beach, here is where I lay. I will be honest I am not the biggest Beach water person. And Allen despises the sand between his toes. You can usually find me beneath the sun catching a tan or much needed nap – it’s something about that warmth.

Anthony’s Coal Fire Pizza

I couldn’t depart Florida with out my grabbing one of Anthony’s Tuna Sandwich and a side of Garlic knots. This is not your Momma’s Bumblebee Tuna either. On the Freshest Bread lays arugula, Fresh Chucks of Tuna, drizzled with oils and topped with a tomato. I know sounds basic but trust me there is nothing basic about it. Their pizza is also very good and we usually hit them at least once during out stay. $ – $$.

While we had so much needed fun and quality time, I missed my babies and my bed. Is it just me or is there really no place like home. Besides, I was definitely getting to spoiled from having to worry only about feeding myself. So it was time to hit the reality button. The trip was overall amazing and while I did plan it out to a T. I left plenty of wiggle room for sleeping in late, cuddling up and just being present with one another. We made a promise not take us this long to plan another trip. In fact we are already doing it now. Because its necessary.
