How To Make Taste Safe Playdough

Here’s an easy DIY worth saving! “Taste Safe Playdough” and you only need 3 ingredients, Corn starch, Baking Soda and Water. Lets just say here’s some sensory play that’s not only developmentally beneficial and enjoyable but also budget friendly and great for any age over 12 months – With adult supervision!

What You Need:

  • 1/2 Cup Corn Starch
  • 1 Cup Baking Soda
  • 3/4 Cup Water
  • Sauce Pan
  • Play Tools for cutting, molding and stamping (i.e. Play knife, Rolling Pin, Spoons, Stencils, Etc.)

How To Make Taste Safe Play Dough:

Step 1. In a saucepan with NO heat, add the cornstarch, baking soda, water and stir.

Step 2. Place your saucepan on the stove top and turn your heat to medium. Stir until completed liquified.

Step 3. Continue Stirring until consistency changes and begins to bind together

Step 4. Place your dough onto a piece of parchment paper or a silicone mat. Let it cool, it will be very hot. To speed the cooling process, flip it over and knead it a bit as it’s cooling down. Be careful, it’s HOT.

Step 5. Once your dough is cool you have the option of adding in a food coloring or a scent. We did a couple drops of food coloring (I suggest using gloves because it stains a little) and knead it into the dough.

Step 5. Allow you little one to play using a variety of tools and store in an airtight container when your done with it for next time.

FYI: This playdough is not for consumption as a snack or food, it is merely safe and non toxic for little ones still learning to not put things in their mouth. Adult Supervision is highly suggested to monitor safe play practices.
